Don Vitale is back and ready to smash it. With eight tracks ready and raring to go; today sees the release of ‘Dope Nation’, an EP release for all you chilled out mother lovers out there.
Premiered via Perth legends, Pilerats on Monday, ‘Dope Nation’ is a collection of tracks built on a self confessed “roller coaster of emotion”. With the EP's first single Bright Eyes already garnering a spin on triple j, by the lad himself Louis McKirdy, big things are certainly coming this man's way. Don Vitale, AKA Kent Wright has built a record built in a shameless reveal, leaving nothing untouched. From lamenting to narcotics, to some genuine love ballads, Wright ties the tracks together with the catchy hooks and laid back lyrics in perfect aussie hip hop stylings.
Vitale’s blasé vocals are comparable to any Allday banger as he fights a fair cause to place himself in the leagues of some of the cream of the hip hop crop. But it's his musical finesse he weaves that you have to watch out for, tying together his slick rhymes with some produced wonders. Bringing his friends along to the party, 'Dope Nation' sports some of the powerhouses in homegrown producers. Don Vitale recruits Quexxxt, Renz and James Angus to jump behind the decks to deliver some of the addictive beats and chill vibes.
The EP release is just one of the bulk projects Kent Wright has on his full plate; balancing duo project The Hated, front runner in the Dead Caucus collective, avid skateboarder and co-founding AFENDS, one of the dopest clothing labels to ever come out of Byron Bay being just some pies he’s got his fingers in. But the Don Vitale solo project definitely is the most honest and raw creation Wright has to offer, and boy does it show.
A skill that doesn’t come without the hard work, Don Vitale certainly has worked his way through the traps. Supporting such high profile acts as Allday and Bone Thugs N Harmony, he’s done the hard yards, worked his way to the top and Dope Nation is the celebration of it all. With an EP launch date set for later this month, we just know its going to be an absolute rad fest.
